I Don’t Get It

I was searching through the archives of The Rambler, and came across this piece (4′3”) by John Cage.  I have absolutely no significant knowledge of music as a discipline, whether in practice or as an academic discipline, so perhaps this piece is symbolic of something, but I cant figure it out.
